One of the most popular flagships devices of Samsung was the Galaxy S10, it was a genuinely a great phone when it launched, and plenty of people are still holding onto it years later. Samsung stopped issuing major OS updates for this model so you can’t run Android 16/One UI 8 on this device officially. But thanks to the custom ROM community, you can still experience the Android 16 on you Galaxy S10 though GSI (Generice System Image) or a custom ROM. In this tutorial, we will provide you a step-by-step guide on how you can install Android 16 on Galaxy S10.
Install Android 16 on Galaxy S10
Before proceeding, note here that this process needs unlocking bootloader and flashing unofficial software, which will in turn wipe data and void your warranty. Following are some requirements for this procedure.
Prerequisites
- Find the exact Galaxy S10 model number by heading to Settings > About Phone and note it down. Custom ROMs availability varies by variant.
- Minimum mobile charge should be 50% before installing Android 16 as you want to avoid a dead battery mid-flash.
- Turn off the lock screen by selecting Swipe in Security > Screen Lock.
- Remove your Samsung/Google Account after syncing it to avoid any recovery flashing issues.
- The buttons of the device must be working properly to boot into desired modes.
- For Window’s on your PC, download and install the latest Samsung USB drivers by clicking here, so your computer actually recognizes the device.
- To install Android 16 on Galaxy S10, you’ll also need Odin for flashing Samsung firmware, plus a custom recovery like TWRP built specifically for the S10.

- Enable Developer Options by going to Settings > About Phone and tapping Build Number seven times. Go to Settings > Developer Options and enable USB Debugging.
- Also enable OEM Unlock which is essential for unlocking bootloader.
Download Required Files
- Download latest version of Odin which is an Android flashing tool from this link.
- Go to the provided link here. Now based on your mobile variant and codename (beyond1 for Samsung Galaxy S10), download the Repartitioner, Cleaner, custom ROM (TWRP recovery pack) and OdinPack (Latest version of One UI 8) files from here.
- After following all the above-mentioned steps, you can now move forward to install Android 16 on Galaxy S10.
TWRP Custom Recovery
- Connect your phone to the computer via cable first.
- Power off your phone and boot in custom recovery mode by holding Volume Down and Bixby button. In few seconds, a warning screen will appear, release the buttons now. As your bootloader is unlocked, press Volume Up button to continue and boot the phone into Odin mode.
- On your PC, run the Odin application, select the Odin custom ROM (TWRP pack file with .tar extension downloaded) in the AP category. Unmark Auto Reboot option in Options menu. Click on Log and click Start to initiate flashing of recovery file.
- Boot back into Download Mode.
- Plug your S10 into your PC and launch Odin.
- Drop the TWRP file into the AP slot and hit Start. This will initiate flashing the recovery file. Pass message will appear on the top of the screen which means process completed.
- Now in Odin mode screen on your phone, hold all four buttons at the same time. When the mobile phone vibrates, release only the Volume Down button first, then release the Power buttons after Samsung logo appears on the screen. After 5 seconds, release both the remaining buttons.
- The phone will boot into TWRP recovery mode instead of stock recovery.
Flash the Android 16 ROM
- In TWRP mode, swipe to allow modifications and tap wide, tap Format Data and type Yes and enter to erase all data on your device.
- After formatting data, go back to main menu, tap Reboot and tap Recovery. Swipe to reboot. After rebooting, swipe again to allow modifications.
- Now on your PC, copy and paste the downloaded repartition file first into the Internal Storage of your phone. In the main menu of TWRP on your device, tap Install and select the repartition file. Swipe to flash it, which will take some time and the phone will auto reboot once it’s done. Swipe to allow modification after rebooting into TWRP mode. Once again, Tap Format Data and type Yes and enter. Go back to main menu, tap Reboot, tap Recovery and Swipe to reboot. Swipe to allow modification when prompted.
- Go back to the computer and now copy both the ROM file(.zip) and Cleaner file which you downloaded previously. Paste these files in Internal Storage of your phone. Now disconnect the cable from your phone after it’s done.
- Tap Install, select the Cleaner file first by tapping on it and swiping to install. Phone will reboot into TWRP mode automatically when flashing is completed.
- Go to install, tap the ROM file and install it by swiping right. This will take some time, so wait patiently. After flashing is done, tap Wipe Cache/Dalvik and swipe. After this, select Reboot System. The phone will reboot in One UI8 Android 16 interface after loading for some time.
