In this tutorial you will get a step-by-step guide on how to unlock bootloader on Samsung Galaxy S10. Unlocking bootloader gives you tons of freedom in installing custom ROMs and enjoying latest OS features without actually waiting for OEM updates.
Please follow the steps below to unlock bootloader on Samsung Galaxy S10.
Note: The bootloader of Snapdragon variants cannot be unlocked. This tutorial only works for Exynos models and international versions.
Pre-requisites
- Unlocking the bootloader will wipe all of your data, so, it is important to backup all of your data. You can find the step-by-step guide here on how to backup data on android device.
- Developer Options need to be unlocked on your device. We will cover it in this tutorial.
- You will also need a USB cable, it is needed to go into Download Mode.
Unlock Bootloader on Samsung Galaxy S10
- Connect Samsung Galaxy S10 to a Wifi connection and then go to Settings > Software Update. Tap on Download and Install, once the software download begins, pause the download. This allows us to connect to the servers.
- Now unlock the Developer Options by going to Settings > About Phone > Software Information. Tap on Build Number few times until you see a small pop up saying “Developer mode has been enables”
- Go back to Settings and at the bottom you will find Developer Options.
- Inside the Developer Options go to OEM Unlocking and turn it on. You might need to provide your PIN or password to enable it.
Download Mode and Bootloader Unlock
- After enabling the OEM Unlocking in Developer Options turn off your device.
- Press and hold the Bixby button + Volume Down button. Simultaneously connect your android devices to the computer using USB Cable.
- Once the blue warning screen appears, release the buttons but keep the USB cable inserted.
- Press and hold the Volume Up button until you enter into Device Unlock Mode.
- Press Volume Up button again to confirm the unlock.
- The Samsung Galaxy S10 will now reboot with all the data erased. You will see an unlocked bootloader warning on the startup.
- Complete the startup process and connect your phone to Wifi connection.
- Connect to the server again by going to Settings > Software Update > Download and Install. Once the download starts, pause it.
- Unlock the Developer Options by going to Settings > About Phone > Software Information. Tap on Build Number multiple times until you unlock developer options.
- Under Developer Options you will that OEM Unlocking is greyed out and turned on. You will also see a small note underneath saying “Bootloader already unlocked”.
Congratulations, you have now unlocked bootloader on Samsung Galaxy S10. Please note that unlocking bootloader permanently losing access to Samsung Pay and Samsung Pass.
