How to Install TWRP on Redmi Note 10

Installing TWRP (Team Win Recovery Project) is a requirement if you want to Root your Redmi Note 10 or flash a custom ROM. The main purpose of TWRP is that it is a custom recovery which replaces your phone’s stock recovery and allow you to flash ZIP files, take full Nandroid backups, install Magisk, if needed. Prerequisite

  • Unlocking bootloader will wipe all your data. So back up your contacts, photos, and anything else you care about before starting this process. You can find the full tutorial here.
  • Your phone should be charged to at least 50%. This will avoid any mid-flash interruption.
  • Go to Developer Options and turn on both USB Debugging and OEM Unlocking. Enable it by going to Developer Options and then Go to Settings > About Phone and tap MIUI Version seven times until it unlocks.
  • After this, download the correct TWRP image for the Redmi Note 10 from here. The recovery file should be meant for you mobile variant as downloading and flashing the wrong file will end up bricking your device.

Install TWRP Recovery

  • After unlocking your bootloader, move the TWRP image file downloaded, into the same folder as your ADB and Fastboot tools. You can rename it for your convenience to redmitwrp.img.
  • Boot into Fastboot Mode by using Volume Down + Power.
  • After this, connect your device to PC. Open the ADB/Fastboot folder and type cmd in the address bar of this folder.
  • To confirm your device is detected properly, type command fastboot devices. If nothing appears, check your USB cable or drivers before going further.
  • To flash the recovery, type command fastboot flash recovery redmitwrp.img and press Enter.
  • The final step here to Install TWRP on Redmi Note 10 is typing the command fastboot reboot recovery and pressing Enter. This will automatically reboot into TWRP recovery. This might take some time so be patient in this process.

Verification and Booting Into TWRP

  • After the device boots into TWRP recovery, it might ask you to swipe to allow modifications. Confirm this by swiping if you’re planning to root the device right now anyway.
  • This will give you access to the main menu in which you can now navigate and select multiple options like Install, Mount, Backup, Restore, Wipe and many more.
  • Go to option Advance, select Flash Current TWRP and swipe to confirm. This will help whenever you will flash recovery or custom ROMs, your phone will automatically switch to TWRP recovery.
