Unlocking the bootloader on any device gives you tons of freedom to do anything such as rooting the device, installing custom ROMs and enjoying the latest OS features using those Custom ROMs. In this tutorial we will discuss how you can unlock bootloader on Redmi Note 10 safely. You will have to fulfill perquisites to fulfill that are as follows:-
Prerequisites
- Make sure that before you unlock bootloader on Redmi Note 10, the data on your device is fully backed up. Once the bootloader is unlocked all of your data is wiped. You can find the tutorial on how to backup data on android device here.
- You need to unlocking the Developer Mode.
- You also need adb setup, Mi Unlock tool and SIM card with 4G/5G data. (all the links are below)
- Finally, you will also require a Xiaomi Mi account that you will add in your device.

Unlock Bootloader on Redmi Note 10
Follow the steps below to unlock bootloader on Redmi Note 10:-
- First go to Settings > About Phone and tap on MIUI Version multiple times until you see a pop message saying “You are now a developer”. This confirms that you have unlocked Developer Options.
- Then go to Settings > Mi Account and login to your Mi account. Do not logout during whole bootloader unlocing process.
- Now go to Developer Options, you will find the Developer Options under Additional Settings.
- In the Developer Options you have to first turn on the OEM Unlocking and then toggle on the USB Debugging.
- Then under Developer Options go to Mi Unlock Status. Make sure your Wifi is off and you are using your mobile data. Accept the terms and conditions and then tap on Add Account and Device. Your Mi Account will automatically be added.
- In case you get the “Couldn’t add” error, go to Settings > Mi Account > Xiaomi Cloud. Turn on the Find Device and grant permission to all the options. And finally perform a logout login of your Mi Account once. Hopefully, you will be able to add account under Mi Unlock status now.
Fastboot and Bootloader Unlocking
- Now download the adb setup [here] and Mi Unlock Tool [here] on your PC. Run the adb setup on your PC and install everything. It is a pretty straight forward process.
- Now unzip the Mi Unlock Tool folder and run miflash_unlock. Agree to the terms and conditions and then login to your Mi Account.
- Then turn off your Redmi Note 10 and boot into Fastboot. For that, press hold the power button and volume down button. Once you see the Fastboot logo on the screen, connect your Redmi Note 10 to your PC using USB cable.
- As soon as you will connect your Redmi Note 10 to your PC, you will see “Phone Connected” on Mi Unlock Tool. Now click on Unlock and then Unlock Away.
- You have to wait for 168 hours (7 days) on the first attempt of unlocking.
- After 7 days, simply boot your Redmi Note 10 in Fastboot and connect to your PC. Run the Mi Unlock Tool (miflash_unlock) and follow the onscreen process.
- Click on Unlock and then Unlock Anyway, wait for setup to load and congratulations. You have successfully unlocked bootloader on Redmi Note 10.
In order to verify successful unlocking of bootloader, go to Settings > Developer Options > Mi Unlock Status. You will find “this device is unlocked“.
